My Body My Life – Term 2 2013

Our Integrated Studies unit this term is My Body, My Life.

This unit is about the human body as a complex system.

Students are investigating the functions of the various body systems that together form the human body.

They are exploring questions such as:

• How do our body systems work?

• Why is it important to keep our body systems healthy?

• What things affect our bodies in positive or negative ways?

The systems in the human body we’ll be looking at are:

Circulatory System (heart, blood, vessels)

Respiratory System (nose, trachea, lungs)

Immune System (many types of protein, cells, organs, tissues)

Skeletal System (bones)

Urinary System (bladder, kidneys)

Muscular System (muscles)

Endocrine System (glands)

Digestive System (mouth, esophogus, stomach, intestines)

Nervous System (brain, spinal cord, nerves)

Click on this link to explore a range of information and online activities about the Human Body and it’s systems. They are a good resource for your project work. Take time to explore some of these sites and make note of where you find useful information so that you can reference them in your bibliography.
